Agenda for the October meeting:

Agenda items include reports on our successful "Public Flying in the Park Day" and our Fall BBQ and Fun Fly. Also on the agenda is the GOOD NEWS about our NEW FLYING FIELD. We have received permission for a dedicated landing strip.

Notes from the August Meeting:

Club members met at the Philips Farm County Park. The plan was to visit and discuss possible locations for a new flying field. Philips Farm County Park is 5 miles north of Moscow on US95.

The location for a fling field investigated here is a large flat area near the entrance to the park. Dave walker visited the location with the county parks director. Dave ran the engine of a plane, holding it above his head near the edge of the hill to test the impact of noise on the park facilities below. The parks director said there was very little noise impact. Hikers in the park said they noticed nothing annoying.

The next location investigated is on Parker Farm Road close to the Elks Golf Course on property owned by the Elks. There is a large flat area currently planted in wheat.

Across the road from the Elks golf course is a University of Idaho experimental farm.

The next site was farm land adjacent to the east side of Mountain View Park in Moscow.

A straw poll was taken to get an idea ranking of the sites.

  1. U of I farm
  2. Mountain View Park land
  3. Philips Farm County Park
  4. Ellks golf course land

Members making the site visit were:

Dave Walker

Joe Bolden

Discussion of the possible flying sites visited at the August meeting. The U of I site is officially off limits to R/C flying. The land east of Mountain View Park will be developed for houses in the near future. The search will continue.

Planning for the Fall Picnic: Joe Bolden volunteered to be "burger chef" since Dave Walker was out of town Saturday September 25. Don Hart was in charge of soft drinks, eating utensils and paper plates. Club members were to bring salads and desserts to share.

Bob Boettcher invited members to fly electric powered models from his back yard over the large open area behind Denny’s restaurant in Pullman.

Dave Walker announced that the October club meeting will be in the Latah Room at the University Inn Best Western in Moscow 6pm to 9pm The meeting will start at 7pm. Members can come at 6 to order food or drinks if they like.

Dave Walker passed around the Super Tigre 45 purchased for the club trainer. The engine was purchased from Hodgins Drug. Looks good and should be plenty of power. It replaces a very tired engine.
