Old Friends

It was noted that Darrell Ery had be laid up for several months – a get well card will be sent.

Dave Walker and Joe Bolden saw Pat Gates, back to clean the old place. Pat says hi! He’s enjoying his new home in Missouri.

Wally Bigelow is recovering from surgery at his mom’s place.

Old Business

Mall Show

Many thanks to Bertle Spence for chairing the Mall Show Committee – GREAT JOB BERTLE!

Club Dues

Club dues are $20 for individuals and $30 for family membership. Please pay dues to Colleen Bungarner soon so you will be included on the official club roster when the club AMA charter is renewed.

Fuel Order

Nic Wittman provided information comparing prices and minimum order size for Cooper Fuels and Byron’s. The club decided to go with the Byron’s. The Minimum order to get the sale price is 7 cases. Fuel to be paid for in advance. Nic would handle the collection of orders. An email was sent to all club members requesting fuel orders. If the minimum was not met, there would be no order this year.

Flying Field Update

Sawyer Field

John Sawyer reports that the flying field is ready! He has sprayed for worms, weeds, rust and powdery mildew. John rented a power roller and rolled the field. The roller was larger than the one used in the past, and did a great job.

Fountain Field

Fountain Field, the crop duster field south of Moscow is no longer to be considered as an official flying site. Crop dusters are actively using the runway.

Philips Farm County Park

There was no meeting of the park board in February. We can fly any time, making sure to avoid flying over private property in the area north of the runway. Club members are reminded to let Dave Walker know by e-mail about any flying activity involving flyers and spectators under age 18.

Albion Road

Bob Boettcher will talk to Charlie, the owner, about club members flying there.

Potlatch Mill Site

The hay is gone! Some equipment is currently parked on the old runway location. Sam Hord called the Potlatch Corporation leasing person. We may be able to lease part of the site – an area on the south side of the mill site was suggested.

New Business

Thursday Evening flying

Thursday evening flying at Sawyer’s R/C Field can start NOW! Flying starts around 5pm and goes until dark.

Spring Fun Fly

The Spring Fun Fly will be scheduled on a Saturday in June – either June 18 or 25 (to be determined at the May meeting). Dave Walker has lots of venison burger for the BBQ.

Meeting adjourned.

Demonstration

Bingo Wing Repair

Dave Walker showed repairs to the "Bingo", a 40 size low wing sport plane that hit a metal fence post. Spars and one rib were broken. Dave used diagonal splices to repair spars.

Mojo Profile

Don Hart showed his new "Mojo" built from a Paul Swanson kit purchased on the internet. This is a very light 46 inch span profile plane with a fiberglass tube "spine" built into the fuselage. The kit has very well designed CNC router cut parts and was very easy to build. A YS 53 four stroke was installed for the demonstration. The Mojo is covered with transparent yellow and transparent blue Monokote.

2004 ETOC Video

We saw a video of the 2004 ETOC (Electric Tournament of Champions) from an episode of "Inside R/C" on the Outdoor Channel. Electric powered "foamy" 3D models were flown in free style competition by several of the top aerobatic flyers in the world.

Many thanks to Colleen Bumgarner for her notes of the meeting.
