Old Business

Mall Show

The Mall Show “peoples favorite” Best of Show award went to Jerry Becker for his electric powered Modeltech SE-5A Biplane 46 ARF scale biplane. Jerry was awarded a new club hat.

The raffle winner was Barry Grussling. He won the ready-to-fly Parkzone P-51.

Sawyer Field

A field day was held one Sunday in March to smooth out the runway. Several members showed up to help.

John Sawyer reported that the field was currently too wet to roll, but would be rolled at the next opportunity. He is looking into several options to discourage worms from creating new mounds on the runway.

New Business

Planes for Sale

Larry Bobisud informed the group that John Sandell had two electric powered models for sale (both were sold within a few days of the club meeting).

Bruce Bumgarner reported that he had been contacted by Marion Sanders of Colfax. Marion is moving to a smaller place and wants to sell some of his modeling stuff including antique and modern engines.

Club Swap Meet and Potluck

The members present voted to hold a club swap meet Sunday May 21 at 1:00pm. The swap meet will be held in John Sawyer’s shop. A potluck is also part of the event – service begins at 1:00pm.

There are some “club surplus” items including a crashed AeroStar 40 trainer and two OS40FP engines to be sold. This is an opportunity for everyone in the club to swap or sell any excess planes, engines or other items that are no longer needed. Members are requested to donate ten percent of sale price to the club.

Model Demonstration in Colfax

As part of the club’s dedication to public service, Joe Bolden and Dave Walker will be doing a modeling demonstration for Cub Scouts in Colfax.

July Meeting Date Changed

The first Tuesday in July falls on the 4th. The members present voted to move the July meeting to the following Tuesday, July 11.

Meeting adjourned.

Demonstrations

Jerry Becker showed his Pacific Aero Models Tiger Moth 30 ARF. Jerry converted the plane to electric power (of course). This is a 50 inch span scale model of the biplane primary trainer used by the RAF before and during WWII. Power is an Astro 05 with a 4:1 gearbox. Both rudder and elevator use a pull-pull control system. A 3S1P 2100 ThunderPower LiPo battery pack provides the power.
