Flying Report
Mel Colvin, Joe Bolden and Sam Hord are usually getting out once a week.
Jerry Becker and Don Hart flew at the Lewiston club field at Mann Lake east of Lewiston.
Les Grammer attended a cross country glider meet in California in June. On Saturday eighteen teams flew 69 miles cross country. Les managed 48 miles on Saturday. On Sunday the event was judged on speed over the course. There were strong winds Sunday. Participants road in the back of pickups and in convertibles (seat belts required). Joe Wurts (a world class glider flyer) won the event. Les said it was wild, but a great time was had by all.
Spring Picnic and Fun Fly Report
The PRRCF spring picnic and fun fly was held Saturday June 23.
We had a good turnout, excellent venison burgers courtesy of Sam Hurd, and of
course our chef, Dave
Walker's exemplary culinary skills. The contest
was won by Jerry Becker,
second place went to Dave
Hagelganz, and third place was awarded to Rob Smith.
Safety Benches Update
Further discussion on enhancements to the safety benches will wait until bench designer/builders Bertle Spence and Gary Wright can attend a meeting.
Safety and Clean Up Reminder
Members are reminded to clean up when you fly! Also, announce takeoffs and landings when others are flying. Safety First!
New Business
August Fun Fly
The August Fun Fly is scheduled for Saturday, August 18. Drinks will be provided. Participants can bring chips, dips and munchies. Joe Bolden and Bruce Bumgarner will be planning events.Flatouts
Jerry Becker found Flatout electric planes from Tower Hobbies for $25 for plane, motor and streamers. Models include a Zero and a Hellcat. Jerry proposed that this would be a very easy and inexpensive way for those wishing to participate in combat to get started. Jerry plans to purchase a couple so that we can see them in action.
Meeting adjourned.
Thanks to Colleen Bumgarner and Jerry Becker for their meeting notes.
Demonstrations
There was no program or demos at the last meeting, we were trying to keep it short because of the holiday.Upcoming Events
