Announcements

Bob Boettcher says he has two new members lined up.

Byron Stevenson passed around a data sheet and video on the new DX-7 R/C system.

The Spokane Baron's model club swap meet is scheduled for March 3.

Colleen Bumgarner checked the calendar and determined that the Super Bowl Snow Fly will be on Saturday February 3. Also, the Puyallup Model Expo has been cancelled this year!

Old Business

Mall Show

The Mall Show is scheduled for the 4th weekend in March (March 23, 24 and 25). The Lewiston model club has been notified. All modelers are welcome to display models. It's too late to advertise in the AMA calendar, but we should do that next year. Byron has re-usable cards to identify displayed models.

New Business

Flying Report

Jerry Becker and Don Hart reported on an expedition to try out the WSU Field House for indoor flying. Electric helicopters, including the Radio Shack Picco Z micro heli, worked well, but it's a little tight for fixed wing electric airplanes. A small, very slow flying foamy plane might work, but the breeze from ventilation fans could be a problem. Don took pictures of the other participants, Jerry, Dave Hagelganz and Ben Troka.

The flying was brought to an early end by the arrival of a group of tennis players.

Super Bowl Snow Fly

The annual Super Bowl Snow Fly will be held at John Sawyer's shop. This event is traditionally scheduled for the Saturday before the Super Bowl. The event will begin at noon on February 3. The weather forecast is for a high temperature of 26 degrees (hopefully with light winds). Get your skis mounted, but be ready to install wheels just in case.

Potluck begins at noon. There will be tapes and DVDs to watch. Hopefully flying will be possible.

DVD Player

Bruce and Colleen Bumgarner bought a new DVD player for the club for $40 - model videos on VHS tape are no longer available. Colleen will check for interesting DVDs for the club to purchase.

Business Cards

Byron Stevenson will print updated the club business cards as soon as he has the new contact information for club officers.

Frequency Board Update

Bertle Spence nominated Gary Wright to look into what it will take to build a new portable frequency board. Ideas for how the board will be operated were discussed.

2007 Flying Season

The Orrin Crooks Memorial Glider Meet is scheduled for May 12-13 at the Lewiston club flying field.

The PRRCF Spring Fly-In and Picnic is scheduled for Saturday June 16.

Bob Boettcher suggested we have a float fly - location to be determined.

Meeting adjourned.

Thanks to Colleen Bumgarner for her meeting notes.

Demonstrations

Randy Sexton brought his Egret electric powered scale ultra light. It is powered with a brushed speed 380 on a 1.7:1 gearbox. It has a JR receiver and is controlled with rudder and elevator. Very cool plane!
