Announcements

Mel Colvin
reported that the hiway to Sawyer R/C Field is scheduled for re-paving beginning in June.

The Orrin Crooks Memorial glider meet is scheduled for May 11-12 at the Mann Lake field east of Lewiston. Bruce Bumgarner is the contest director.

Les Grammer is contest director for a Pasco Fry Fly glider meet on a sod farm near Pasco, WA on June 19-20.

The Lewiston club fun fly and swap meet is scheduled for Saturday June 21. Ten dollar landing fee includes lunch.

Flying Reports

Harry Evans crashed the latest version of his original design "Fusion". The audience was duly impressed! Harry attempted to fly his small Bleriot, but it refused to become airborne.

Don Hart crashed and repaired his original design "Tabanus" speed plane wannabe. A crash on takeoff for the maiden flight broke the fuselage in half, but the wing had only minor cosmetic damage. The aileron servo arm broke however.  The fuselage was pieced back together and fiberglass bandages applied over the break - stronger than ever! The next flight will be from a much wider hard surface runway.

Dave Walker reported great flying this winter in Arizona. Dave has been flying here too. He put the maiden flight on a Funtana 40 owned by Ryan Stolz. Dave promised to bring pictures of the Scale Masters Qualifier he atttended in Arizona to the next meeting.

Bob Boettcher reported that his e-powered Cub is ready for action. Bob would like to get a float fly organized on the Snake River.

Old Business

Magnum Fuel Order

The idea of ordering a 55 gallon drum of fuel from Magnum Fuels was discussed. There was not enough interest to proceed.  Jerry Becker offered to buy fuel in Spokane on his next trip to B&B Hobbies and Hobby Town.  There should be a discount if we buy enough. Jerry will send an email soliciting orders for fuel.

Lawn Mower

Mel Colvin delivered the "new" mower to Sawyer R/C Field. He also mowed!

New Business

Spring Picnic and Fun Fly

The PRRCF Spring Picnic and Fun Fly is scheduled for Saturday June 7 beginning at noon. Harry Evans will be the contest director; Jerry Becker will assist. This is a potluck event with burgers and soft drinks provided by the club. The Lewiston club will be invited. Burger chef Dave Walker will be out of town, but Dave Barker volunteered to step in and man the grill. He will be assisted by Joe Bolden.

Flying Site Investigation

Joe Bolden has been looking into developing a flying site at the old Latah County landfill  and transfer station east of Moscow. He requested that members take a look at the site for usability before proceeding further. Joe will contact the AMA for flying field assistance if it looks like a good location.

Meeting adjourned.

Thanks to Colleen for her meeting notes.

Demonstrations

Don Kolb showed his Evolution 60 powered Lanier "Stinger 60". The Evo 60 has a pitts style muffler. There's a "T" in the fuel line for ease of refueling. He plans to "fly the pants off" his new Stinger.

Jerry Becker showed his "Reactor Bipe" ARF. Jerry was NOT impressed with the covering. The 34 oz plane does fly well with a 600 watt capable $35 Rimfile outrunner putting out 400 watts, however.

Harry Evans had the 1/3 scale "Bleriot" rudder covered on one side. He using light weight dacron fabric for covering. He also showed one landing gear strut for the Bleriot. It is well engineered brass tube construction with a 10 inch bicycle wheel.
