Mark Scarborough talked about a new electric pylon racing class. Planes must be scale models of Formula One air racers (a class limited to 200 cubic inch Continental engines). The airframe must be film covered and constructed of balsa and ply (no composites) with a minimum 375 sq inch wing. Motor must be a 36x40 mm outrunner using a 4s LiPo battery pack. There is a minimum weight limit. This is an entry level class with speeds in the 125-130mph range.
David Sass had a problem with a LiPo battery pack and asked about disposal. Jerry Becker said that the chemistry used is non-polluting. Put the pack in salt water to completely discharge the pack and throw it in the trash.
David Sass and Larry Bobisud went to the Potlatch field and found that there were no trespassing signs posted (see discussion below).
Larry Bobisud flew his 1:48 scale Plantraco Hellcat, but lost the tiny battery pack in the grass.
Dave Bueller found that the ancient Monokote on his glider shattered on impact. Mark Scarborough suggested using Micafilm covering. He says it is a very good covering, but requires Balsarite adhesive to stick.
Mark Scarborough has been painting foamy planes "for hire" to finance his pylon racing obsession. Mark says he has not flown his new Sukhoi - too windy!
Bob Boettcher has been looking at the circular culdesacs near the Schweitzer Engineering complex in Pullman. These might be appropriate for electric RC.
Dave Evans crashed the Slow Stick he built for the RC class. An attempt at a short hop turned into a crash when the plane unexpectedly gained altitude.
Jerry Becker is building a Mojo 25 from a kit and is really enjoying the process. Jerry is dreading covering it, however.
RC Class Update
Jerry Becker reported that the class was very successful. All the planes have been successfullly built. Only Dave Evans needs to get a flight on the buddy box.

Lewiston Club Events
The Lewiston club voted to hold a minimum of four funfly events next year. At least one will be a one day float fly event.
Don Hart showed his latest scratch build. The wing was an "orphan" ARF wing purchased from B&B Hobbies in Spokane. Don designed and built a fuselage and tail for the wing. Don has named this plane the "Razzle Stick" since the wing came from the Seagull "Razzle 3D". The radio gear was recycled from the "U-Can-Do 3D" that was lost in a mid-air crash this spring.
The "Razzle Stick" is powered by an OS 91 4-stroke. Wingspan is 62.2 inches and is 3 inches thick!
