EAA Airfair - Lewiston airport Saturday September 26. A P-51 will fly in and put on flight demos.
David Evans
lost his
plane, a fly-away, after 20 seconds of controlled flight.
Mark Scarborough
crashed his pylon racer at Deer Park due to a switch failure.
Fortunately, the engine survived! Mark posted times of 2:05 and 1:49.5
at the Shelton pylon event. Mark reported that there were several
midairs between the fast class pylon planes.
Mike Marsh, Jerry Becker and Don Hart have been
perfecting the design for paintball target planes at the Mann Lake
field near Lewiston. The planes have fuselages of plastic downspout,
wings of blue styrofoam reinforced with filament packing tape and
coroplast tail surfaces. Motor mounts are made of pieces of cutting
board material. The planes will be available as targets at the fall
picnic.
Nomination of Club Officers
* President: Mark Scarborough
* Vice President: John Sawyer
* Secretary/Treasurer: Colleen
Bumgarner
* Safety Officers: John
Sawyer and Don Kolb
* Editor: Don Hart
Work parties have completed tarring the cracks in the runway. Minor repairs remain to be completed. Dave Walker and Jerry Becker will schedule another work party to finish the repairs.
Fall Picnic
The format will be the similar to the spring and summer events. This will be a Lucky Hand event where each flight will earn a playing card. The best poker hand at the end of the event will win the prize. Jerry Becker got an E-Flight Blade MCX S300 heli for the Lucky Hand prize at the picnic.
There are some changes to the balloon busting. Cutting the crepe paper to release a balloon will earn one card. Busting a balloon will earn two cards. Busting a free flying balloon will earn three cards!
Paintball shooting at target planes will cost $1 for 25 shots (wives and significant others will shoot for free). This will defray the cost of paintball supplies.
Mel Colvin volunteered to be the burger/brat chef. Bruce and Colleen Bumgarner will bring the cold drinks and Jerry Becker will bring the burgers, brats and buns.
Flying in the Park
Set up for the event will begin at 8:30 on Saturday September 19 at Mountain View Park in Moscow. Moscow Parks and Recreation has reserved the park for the day, so there should be no other activities at the park. The park will mowed on the Friday before the event. Safety fences will be erected by the club. We will have to repositioned Soccer goals and bleachers for our use. Jerry Becker will get signs made.
Planes are requested for static display. There will be demo flights mid-day and as appropriate to fill in between buddy box sessions.
So far there has been one participant signed up for the RC class.
No new business.
Dave Bueller showed his Olympic 650 glider. It was built in 1984. Radio has been updated to a 2.4 gHz system. Dave has not flown for many years and is just getting back into RC. He expects to fly it on the upcoming weekend.
Jerry Becker passed around the E-Flight Blade MCX S300 RTF heli fun fly prize.
Don Hart showed pictures from his recent visit to the Evergreen Aviation Museum in McMinnville, OR to see the Spruce Goose and a bunch of other planes.
