Flying/Building Reports

Dave Evans crashed his twin pusher (steering is by differential thrust). His Slow Stick is still in flying condition.

Simon Smith has been putting in flying time on his simulator. Simon has been using the FMS simulator he got from Nitro Models. He is looking for help on adjusting the simulator parameters to make models more realistic.

Sam and Gunnar Sorem are building a Fokker D VII, their first electric powered plane. In the last five years Sam has built a 1/5 scale Top Flite Corsair (powered with a G62) and two Vailly Aviation Hurricane ARFs.

Don Hart and Mike Marsh have been ski flying at Lewiston club field at Mann Lake. Don used skis he made from 1/16 ply. Mike made a single center mounted "ski" from blue foam for his Cub. The concept actually worked, though some changes need to be made to improve takeoff and landing performance.

Don Hart is still working on the Byron Pipe Dream. This a typical Byron kit with molded foam wings and tail. The fuselage is a piece of aluminum tubing. Power will be a 35cc gas engine. It is nearly ready to cover.

Mark Scarborough has been working on a new control line pattern plane. He wasn't satisfied with his first paint job, so he has stripped it and started over. He is also working on scale Lil Toni and  t-tailed Thunder Chicken for electric pylon racing.

Old Business

Tax ID

Colleen Bumgarner reported that there was no new information on the club tax ID.

Super Bowl Snow Fly

The menu for the event is chili and pot luck (no burgers). Both spicy and "regular" chili will be available.

New Business

Mall Show

The mall show is tentatively scheduled for March 26-28. Bertle Spence will check with the mall for dates and tables.

2.4 GHz Radios

There are cheap 2.4 GHz radios from China that are not FCC approved. Using these radios may negate your AMA insurance.

Trainer Donated

Randy Sexton donated a Tower Trainer 40 kit to the club to use for a raffle prize or a club trainer.

Program

Mark Scarborough showed a wing jig he uses for building his control line models.

Simon Smith showed his Exceed RC Cub, a three channel foam RTF electric powered foamy. Wing span is 37.5 inches. Simon was looking for suggestions on replacing the tiny wheels with something that would work better on grass.

Don Hart showed his original design Razzle Stick on skis. The skis were made from childs cross country skis he found at Good Will. The skis are mounted fixed rather than being allowed to pivot.
