Lewiston Club Float Fly rescheduled to August 21

Flying/Building Reports

Dave Walker flew at the old Potlatch mill flying site. Dave reported that the runway needs some cracks filled. A work party will be organized during the time frame of August 19-27. Dave did some "weed wacking" with this plane when he missed the runway!

Jerry Becker, Randy Sexton, Mike Marsh and Don Hart attended the Grangeville Fun Fly. There was a really good turnout, with pilots from the Grangeville contingent as well as several members of the Lewiston club. Events got underway on Friday with a cross country fly. The weather was windy Saturday and we got rained out in the afternoon. Just before the storm arrived, we took a tour of slope soaring sites on the Salmon River breaks. Saturday and Sunday the 16 foot Telemaster flew, with several of the model pilots getting a turn on the sticks - big, slow and easy to fly. Various glow and electric sport planes flew throughout the event. Aerotow and electric powered gliders also flew. The kids really enjoyed shooting paint balls at Mike's target plane. Don ran the new DLE 30 gas engine on his Byron Originals "Pipe Dream" trainer. It started easily and a couple of tanks were put through it in 5 minute runs. Once the engine was running well, the plane got its maiden flight, which went very well. Ted Wilkins, the event host, has promised to make this an annual event.

Bob Boettcher reported that his original design giant scale plane is repaired and ready to fly. Its last outing ended with a damaged vertical fin when it flipped on landing.

Elmer Carlson flew his "Lazy Ace" biplane at Newman Lake. This plane was built from a kit in 1979 and controlled with a Heath Kit radio system. It now has an OS 120 four stroke and a modern radio system. Elmer is nearly finished building a Senior Kadet from a kit.

Dave Evans
reported that he had three crashes the night of the meeting!

Dave Buehler
showed his "Quick Flick 2" 50 inch discus launch glider. It's nearly ready to fly. Here is a vendor picture of the model.

Joe Bolden has a new "SuperStar EP" with a brushless motor. Joe reported that he had to get a new charger.

Old Business

Tax ID Update

Jerry Becker found in his research that an organization with less than $5000 annual income is automatically non-profit. With that in mind, a motion passed to table this topic until there is a good reason to bring it up again.

Parks and Rec Class Update

Jerry Becker reported that the Parks and Rec department has sent out a public service announcement for the class. The announced cost per attendee is $250 with a minimum of four participants needed to hold the class. The class is scheduled to start September 4 and end at the club BBQ on September 25. B&B Hobbies in Spokane has offered a bundle deal with a Slow Stick airplane, brushed motor, 2.4GHz radio system with two servos, a lipo power pack and charger for $178 each. A motion passed for the club to buy four of the bundled systems for the class.
