Announcements

The PRRCF Spring BBQ is scheduled for Saturday June 18.

A Lewiston club float fly is planned for August - date is not determined.

Flying/Building Reports

Don Hart reported that he has been spending most of his time for the last few weeks building, flying, fixing (repeat) in preparation for the Lewiston IMAC. Not much flying.

Phil Tallman had the landing gear tear out of his Sig Rascal at the Sawyer RC field. Phil attended the float fly at Silver Lake. He flew a Cub on floats and a GP Sea Wind flying boat. Everyone stopped what they were doing to watch the maiden flight of the Sea Wind! He has also been flying helicopters and electric powered planes near Schweitzer Engineering in Pullman.

The Sass boys have put together a manual foam cutter (not quite ready for a computer controlled version).

Colleen and Bruce Bumgarner reported that the bad weather forecast scared away some glider pilots from the Orrin Crooks Memorial Glider Meet held at the Lewiston club field. Only ten pilots attended. Five rounds of thermal duration tasks were put in on Saturday.  Flying was stopped after 2 rounds on Sunday due to lightning and wind (these rounds did not count). The Farragut glider event had much better weather: 10 rounds were flown both Saturday and Sunday.  Bruce flew Sunday at the Paradise Road event near Spokane.

Mark Scarborough reported that he came in 4th in the slow RC pylon class on Saturday at the Deer Park Pylon event.  There were 15 pilots.  He did better on Sunday, coming in third overall.  His plane survived a midair with minimal damage.  Mark reported that he didn't break anything at the Eugene control line event. A picture of Mark's original design Avenger stunt plane was on the event T-shirt! He was fifth overall in both Classic and Advanced stunt.

Old Business

Spring BBQ Planning

Joe Bolden will be the burger chef (Dave Walker has a conflict).  Jerry Becker will get a lucky hand poker prize. Don Hart has helium for the balloon bust and a target plane ready for the paint ball guns.

Potlatch Days Planning

Dave Walker called the Potlatch Days organizer about a flying demonstration.  It is scheduled for 11am on Sunday July 17. The demonstration will last about 20 minutes. Three flyers are needed for the demo. A static model display is also planned, with a requirement for club members to be there to watch over the planes on display and to answer questions.  Dave will check on the best possible location at the mill site for pilots with safety and presentation of the flying demo in mind. Plans will be finalized at the July club meeting.

RC Class Report

Jerry Becker reported that there is one student in the RC class after one dropped out.  The plane is complete and will fly at the club BBQ event.
