Kibbie Dome
indoor free flight event is scheduled for July 6-10.
Steve Overley flew his Corsair at Mann Lake. His Zero needs a higher C battery pack to fly. Steve got a Pasche air brush on eBay for $58 with three spray tips.
Elmer Carlson has been flying his trainer on the buddy box. The club trainer he built is available.
Bruce Bumgarner passed around pictures of the hands-free retriever the club donated money for. It was used at the glider meet at Mann Lake in May. Bruce reported that there were 15 pilots at the meet. Bruce flew only one day at a two day glider meet at Farragut State Park. It was windy and Bruce crashed his glider.
Carson Sass has been flying his micro P-51.
Sam and Gunnar Sorem have been flying at Leroy Johnson's field on Chambers Road south of Pullman. Gunnar Sorem has been flying his Zero.
Don Hart piloted a tow plane at the aerotow glider event at Mann Lake. The weather was rainy Saturday morning, but was very nice with good lift in the afternoon. Sunday was overcast. Pilots came from the Seattle area and from Yakima.
Phil Tallman went to the Biplane Bash at Deer Park. It was windy until late in the day - a Skybug didn't make it back to the runway.There wasn't much flying. Phil flew his Pitts and Gemini foamy biplanes. Phil has been flying at Leroy's with his Tequila and a flat foamy with lights.Mark Scarborough flew at the NW Contol Line Regionals. There were 107 pilots! It was windy Saturday, but great on Sunday. Mark was a judge in scale - four flights in four hours. Mark flew his epower proflile at Leroy's.
Jeremy Ensley started flying RC last summer with a Park Zone Cub. He has flown his Fun Cub at Leroy's. Jeremy lives in Colfax.
Potlatch Field Report
Dave Walker reported that the Potlatch field needs weed killer when it stops raining. The weeds will be removed from cracks, then tar will be used to fill the cracks.
Potlatch Days
Dave Walker said there was a lot of positive feedback from our participation in the Potlatch Days celebration last year. Potlatch Days is scheduled for July 21 this year. Joe Bolden will be in charge of the parade float with static display of planes and Randy Sexton will probably demonstrate his RC skydiver.
Prop Balancing
Dave Walker gave a demonstration of prop balancing. Dave said that the main reason for balancing props is low vibration and more power.Dave covered the types of balancers he uses, the procedure for balancing props statically and dynamically and how to add or remove weight to balance a blade or hub of a prop.
