Flying/Building Reports

Phil Tallman burned his arm on the muffler of Elmer Carlson's Lazy Ace while flying at Leroy Johnson's field. The Lazy Ace flies great and Phil's arm is healing well. Phil's purple Katana crashed - no glue on the tail. The "Pullman Cub" has flown. Phil has also flown his PA-12 Super Cruiser Cub and his Tequila biplane. The Tequila was a construction article in the old RCM magazine long ago. It's about the same size as the Lazy Ace and flies very well.

Elmer Carlson has been flying on the buddy box and is about two sessions away from solo. His Lazy Ace (see above) and SIG Kadet Senior have flown.

Dave Walker has been working on the runway at the Potlatch mill site.

Steve Overley has been fishing on Puget Sound (19 pound salmon) and tying lots of flies (too busy to fly RC). Steve's foam Sukhoi is in progress.

Mark Scarborough flew in a pylon race at Deer Park in the new electric powered formula one class. Mark was doing well for being so rusty, but crashed his plane. Mark also flew in a nitro class, coming in first in the silver group. The speed control and motor died in Mark's new control line stunt plane.

Phil Tallman and Boyu Chen will get together soon to see what progress can be made on Boyu's helicopter build.

Potlatch Days Flight Demo Report

Dave Walker reported that Joe Bolden put together a float with RC planes and candy for the kids for the parade. There was a static display of RC planes at the park after the parade. The flight demo went well. Phil Tallman was the announcer describing the planes and maneuvers. Will McVay, Randy Sexton and Don Hart flew. Randy started off the display with his Senior Telemaster towing an American flag during the playing of the national anthem. Will flew a scale RV-4. Don flew a profile Edge 540 and a 60 size Twister. Phil reported that the demo was well received.
