Flying/Building Reports
Mark flew in
the Memorial Day control line event in Salem, OR. He crashed his
profile plane, but came in second in Classic and first in Advanced.
Mark is in the process of building two new control line planes. He also
attended the Kibbie Dome indoor nationals event for a bit.
LeRoy -
windy as usual... Good building weather.
Dave flew
his Goldberg Shoe String in Arizona this winter. He is starting an
e-power Cub from a balsa kit. Dave also went to the Kibbie Dome indoor
event.
Elmer flew
his Fun Cub. Unfortunately, it landed (unharmed) on the far side of the
creek on the south side of the runway - one tough bird (the plane
;^) ).
Don flew at
the BBQ, but not much other RC activity.

Spring BBQ Report
The weather was great.
Turnout was less than we've seen in the past, but we had a great time.
There was lots of flying with no serious incidents or crashes (Bob
Kaley's tri-copter got a bit too far out and ended up out in the wheat
when Bob lost orientation). Rather than poker hands for the prize (a
RTF quad copter) we dealt one card to each person who wanted to
participate.I didn't get the name of the winner, but she was thrilled.

Program
Bob Kaley showed three of his tri-copters, one of them has a
full body covering the innards. The tail motor tilts to yaw these
machines. Bob builds do-it-yourself tri-copters using information he
gleaned from the internet. Heavy duty cable ties mounted as loops on
the underside of the arms are used for landing gear/shock absorbers.
Bob uses 2200 mAH 2S and 3S LiPoly battery packs to run the three
motors, three speed controls and the controller board. The tricopters
are very agile and Bob flies them very well (when they don't get too
far away).
