Flying/Building Reports

Bob's PVC multicopter is done, but not flown yet.

Mark's new Impact CL full fuselage stunter is in progress. It will have an E-Flite 32 outrunner motor and 75 amp ESC. ESC controls timer, throttle delay and RPMs (heli governor mode). Mark says this is a 60 size model that comes out the same weight as the glow version. Advantage of the electric power system is that the CG doesn't change during flight.

Leroy says he's "almost" done with his Great Planes 60 size Cub. It has a .61 four stroke for power.

Sam has been painting his house most of the summer. Not much time for modeling.

Don reported flying when the weather permitted, but didn't have much company at the field. Don is helping one of the Lewiston club members who needed some buddy box time to get back to flying after taking a year off.

Old Business

Election of Officers

A motion to close nominations passed. Since there was only one nomination for each club office, a motion for election by acclimation was passed. Officers for 2014 are:

President: Don Hart
VP and Safety Officer: John Sawyer
Secretary Treasurer: Colleen Bumgarner

Sam showed his giant scale Hawker Hurricane. It was built from plans he bought 20 years ago. He says he started the build about 10 years ago. The 92 inch span model has a 50cc gas engine and weighs about 30 pounds. It has air retracts, a fiberglass cowl and fiberglass cloth over balsa to simulate the metal skin on the nose and wings. Much of the fuselage structure and control surfaces are fabric covered. Many of the markings on the plane were done with press-on letters. There are actually two models of the Hurricane he's working on. One to work out the best way to build and finish, the other to be the best of what Sam learns.

The full size plane crashed in Russia during WW2. It was recovered and restored in New Zealand. Sam found many pictures of the restoration online to help in the construction of the model.
