LeRoy and Linda Johnson are sponsoring a BBQ and fun fly at their field on Chambers Rd south of Pullman. LeRoy and Linda will provide burgers and fixin's. Attendees are encouraged to bring a main dish, salad or dessert to share. The club will provide drinks.
Dave Walker showed a video he made of a 1/12 scale B-29 maiden flight. Dave made the video in Arizona this winter. The model has a 141 inch wing span. Power is four OS61FX engines. The model was built from Don Smith plans. It weighs 44 pounds with fuel. Twelve servos are used. Functions include brakes on the main gear. A Hitec 2.4GHz radio was used. Monokote was applied in panels. Four different rolls of covering were used. The subtle differences between the rolls give the model a realistic appearance with non-matching panels. The cockpit is detailed. The model was built and flown by John Mangino. The project took four years to compete. The maiden flight was a complete success.
