Flying/Building Reports

Dave Walker has been training Lav Khot at the field at Potlatch. Bob Kaley just missed them but was able to find the flying field there.

Bob Kaley has been trying to build quad copters from PVC pipe.

Joe Bolden
has been building cabinets at his place (will they fly, Joe?).

Mark Scarborough talked about a control line plane he brought to show and his new plane. His design got top points for appearance. Mark took 1st in Classic and 1st in Profile.. Questions were asked about how control line stunt contests works.

Old Business

Fall BBQ and Fun Fly Report

The Fall BBQ and Fun Fly was held in September at Sawyer RC Field. Excellent food and flying, though windy at times. There were 22 adults and 7 children for the BBQ. Many new faces. Several people came who heard about the flying field and BBQ from the display tables at the Moscow Farmers Market for National Model Aviation Day.

New Business

Octogenarian Award

Colleen and Bruce showed the beautiful award that Bruce Bumgarner received from the North West Soaring Society. He was awarded the Octogenarian Award given to a flyer when he is still flying in his 80th year. They present the award at the end of year tournament so flyers do not have to wait another full year. It is an eight-sided Plexiglass trophy. Other flyers are asked to send in one word that describes that person, and the eight words repeated most are engraved on the sides of the trophy. On Bruce's, the words were Integrity, Friendly, Confident, Leader, Reliable, Helpful, Courageous, and Cheerful.

Nomination of Club Officers

Nominations for officers for 2015: Don Hart was nominated for President (we will have to ask him and get his approval), John Sawyer for Vice President and Safety Officer, and Colleen Bumgarner agreed to another year of Secretary/Treasurer. Need to sign up and pay for introductory training pilots for 2015.

Program

Dave Walker put on a very excellent program at this meeting on how to land power planes. He had detailed information in handouts for landing tail dragger and tricycle gear models.  Excellent and informative talk and showed excellent examples. Thanks Dave
